Watch out

I saw a watch in a ship store that was exactly what I had been looking for--bright yellow face chrono style. I thought it was overpriced so I passed. When I got home I looked all over and could not...

My wife sometimes wears dresses in the Chinese style. She has a great body and that style really hugs her curves!

A place at the rail

Table hogs--another reason to eat in the main dining room!

I rarely miss a meal in the dining room but I do like to sample the buffet offerings. I've not had a problem finding a table.

Tie with no jacket?

Better to skip the tie than to wear the "al bundy" tie and no jacket. It's not about a dress code it's about looking good. If suits or sportcoats are not your thing go with a bright Hawaiian shirt...

Vegas style

I love the shows onboad. I usually go straight from dinner to the showroom to get a good seat down front. I sometimes see both the early and late show.

If you spend much time in Vegas you'll...

Solo cruising rocks

Don't listen to the wallflowers go and have fun. Participate in the onboard activities and you will bump into others looking to have a good time.

Embrace the now

TAs were a good idea in the old days but now they're like the card catalog at your local library.

If you are computer literate and reasonably intellegent you can inform yourself about your cruise...

Different experience

On my first cruise many moons ago I used a ta (al gore had not created the Internet yet) I had a question and called the line and the first thing the rep asked was are you working with a ta? When I...

Bar tips

I usualy bring a stack of us $1s for tipping the bar staff. I tip a buck each time I use my soda card at the bar and I give the bar service girl in the main dining room a big first day tip so she...

Single zero only

The single zero games will give you a shot at losing your money more slowly. I have not seen one on a ship and there are only a few in Vegas--mostly in the high limit rooms (and I heard that the...

Stunningly high prices

I most often stay on the ship and enjoy the smaller crowds onboard when in port. When I do an excursion I book on my own unless it is a close call for making it back to the ship on time-- a tulum...

One of my favorite cruises was a four day to key west etc that I did solo. The meet and greet was kinda cheesy but my tablemates and others I met onboard kept me busy. The piano bar was a good place...

Go for it!

I went solo once and loved it. I met some great people. Danced with all those ladies. I dined with three crazy singles from West Virginia. It was loads of fun. I only had myself to keep up with! ...

Envelopes instead

I always have all auto tips removed. I have never had any trouble doing this. I prefer to use envelopes filled with cash. There's something about handing your tip to the staff and saying thanks for...

Vegas style entertainment?

I go to vegas a few times a year and I love it. I love the adult fun. I like some of the shows in vegas that have topless dancers. Since most major lines have an adults only comedy show why not...

Tour the ship

When I see the dinner line I usually tour the ship for a while until the line clears. The best part of a reserved table is that you need not arrive early to queue up.

The exception is if you...

Should have listened to the wife

My lovely bride reminds me often that she suggested CCL at about 18--I bought at 23.

I enjoy seeing the shipboard credit--makes me want a mango smoothie!

Every cruise

I get something for each cabin every cruise. I started using the BV gifts as a way to discover my guar room location and it became a habit.

I like to buy carnival's cookies and cakes and I like...

I expect verbal abuse when I discuss upgrades

I found a way to enhance my chances of being upgraded to a suite from a balcony cabin a few years ago.

I used the method successfully on three cruises before I started booking ajoining rooms when...

Seat swapping

I prefer old school dining with the same tablemates each night. We don't miss a meal in the dining room and we move around the table just to mix it up a bit.

On our last cruise my oldest son was...

We take them but do not often use them on board

We take the walkie talkies but usually don't even turn them on. It's so easy to just pick a meeting place and time.

We take them because they do come in handy in port and they are much cheaper...
