Re: SHORE EXCURSIONS

Glacier Gardens is a work in progress and interesting. what are your interests for your other ports??? Plenty to choose from , look over a shore excursion list and narrow down your interests.

Re: 26 Glacier Cruise

I myself greatly prefer sailing out of Seward on the long trips that include wildlife, usually much less wildlife viewing out of Whittier.

Re: Fishing in Alaska

Orca does not run businesses out of Ketchikan, only refers. My family has gone with Northern Lights a few times, but halibut probably would be best out of Seward???

Re: Binoculars

For Alaska, I feel it is vitally important to have a good pair of wide angle binoculars. My 10x50 pair has seen many trips. I also take my 16x50's and use both, BUT for wildlife viewing- you need a...

Re: Luggage in Vancouver?

I would store my bags at Canada Place, that way you won't have to lug them to Amtrak and back track, using 2 cabs ( back and forth depending where you want to go) It would be a better use of time.

Re: Mgram cruised on Millie today!!!

Hello Mgram. Today was a nice day to go boating in Bradenton. I was going to take my son fishing at the Pier in Sarasota, but had to do a home visit for work. I'm glad you had a nice time. Karen.

Re: Cozumel

I did the San Gervaiso ruins in the summer of '91. It was hot and a lot of flying insects.
We did the tour on our own and the driver did have insect spray-it didn't help. The ruins are on a much...

Re: Dog dead at hands of NCL

http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/04/08/dog.adrift.ap/index.html

Being a person who cares greatly for animals, I'm angry that that poor dog was not allowed to be saved! It's bad enough of how NCL treats...

Re: Shopping in Alaska

Mostly independent small stores in the ports but certainally a great variety, just walk off the ship- you will be heading right for a "boatload" of stores.

Re: First Cruise

Your photo drivers license does qualify as a photo id. I am an old school photographer. I would recommend a camera that has some "manual" options, that will allow you to bracket exposures. Fully...

Re: shore exursions

I am an avid supporter of independent touring and the only way I go. You do need to have your plans and reservations made in advance, but I never do so before 30 days myself. Best is to request a...

Re: Timeframe Getting off Ship

You need to be the AAA member as they record the AAA number for the discount. I have always gotten unlimited miles cars since it is 125+ miles Anchorage- Seward.

Re: Mendenhall Glacier Question

Exit Glacier is 8 1/2 miles off the Seward Highway. I would get a car to do more touring. Seward is small. I also do not recommend Fox Island as it takes time away from marine wildlife viewing- my...

Re: 1st Alaskan cruise-Which shore Excursions?

I have to respectfully disagree and do not recommend the Mendenhall float trip. I have done a lot of Alaska tours and in my opinion there are far better ones to take. You get only a brief distant...

Re: Timeframe Getting off Ship

I would have the car reserved for 9am, they will hold the car a few hours anyway. If needed it is only 1/4-1/2 mile walk from the ship- leave your luggage with someone and go back with the car to...
