From what I see on the news updates coming in, the
surrounding areas of New Orleans are under many feet
of water and it's just as bad along the Gulf through Mississippi
and into Mobile Alabama....

I live in Northern Calif. so I have to estimate: the closest Amtrak
station to San Pedro would be Fullerton - about 30 miles away.
Driving should be only 30-35 mins ( part freeway ).

Hello ROSCOE: The QE2 berths at San Pedro. Convenient to the Disneyland
area and Orange County. If you wish to go north, depending on traffic it should

Qm2 right now is scheduled for San Pedro - south of Los Angeles.
They may try, or are trying, to possibly berth her at Long Beach near
the original "Mary" but there has been no decision made at...

Umm, I think the Cayman Port Auth web site has not been updated since the storm.
The ships you mentioned WERE to be in port but altered their itins as half of
Grand Cayman is still under water.
