I'm planning to visit SouthEast Alaska in July or August - either a cruise, or independently. I'm 55, straight, and would like a travel mate, female, to share the experience and costs. (no snorers, please).
If I/we don't find a cruise, I plan to fly Alaska Air to visit Sitka, Juneau, and Glacier Bay.
I'm considering a cruise the last week of August from Vancouver to Whittier and am looking for someone to share an inside CHEAP cabin with. Then I want to rent a car for 2 wks., and camp or stay in hostels. I'm an avid photographer and want to photograph the early fall colors of Alaska from Anchorage.
As far as snoring is concerned, I've been told that sometimes I "moan" in my sleep so that might not work for you. I'm very independent, an early riser, kind and considerate. I'm 51 yrs. old and female. I live in San Diego and work as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Have you ever done the Alaska ferry? A cruise sounds like a better deal yet I'd love to be able to spend more time in ports to explore nature. I am considering flying to Juneau, exploring by ferry, staying in hostels, then flying home.....just haven't decided yet. What are your plans?
thanks, Suzanne, and others who've reponded via personal email. I've responded to all who wrote, but at this point it looks like I don't have a cruisemate, so will be flying to Juneau and back from Sitka with a trip to Gustavus on the way.
I'll post my dates when the reservation is firm, since it would be great to meet up with individuals, couples, or a group during my travels.
