Once in a lifetime cruise because they are moving a ship too big to go through Panama Canal from the East Coast to the West Coast
I just got an offer on this South American Cruise PLUS - 48 days + free air, comes out to $86.00 a day..January 2009.
48 days Port Canaveral to St Maarten , St Kitts, Barbados, Brazil, 2 days Rio di Janeira , Montevideo Uruguyay , 2 days Buenos Aires, around Cape Horn, Ushaia Argentina, Straights of Magellan, Chilean Fojrds and Glaciers, 2 days Buenos Aires, Arica Chile, Lima, Peru Costa Rica, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Los Angeles, Free transfers, free hotel night in LA then free flight to Florida city...
$4317 including all fuel charges, taxes, transfers and free air
If interested in being cabinmate please e mail or pm me
at this price it's inside cabin. Althoug I usually take a balcony cabin I'm guessing the price would be prohibitive for a 48 day trip.
I've done solo cruises and paid single supplement before, but again, although I really really want to do this once in a lifetime trip, a single supplement of at the the very least bringing it up to somewhere like $7000 would be just too much for me to spend.
Plus this was an offer from an agent and not the cruiseline itself. Through the cruise line the price is about $100 more with both including all taxes and fuel charges, by the cruise line is not including the free post stay in Los Angeles nor the free transfers, nor the free air back to Florida.

Believe it or not, this is a GREAT deal!! I am not sure the price you listed above is regular or senior rate; But, If you're a senior, then you can take off an additional $600 (55+ yrs). You can also save an additional $600 OB-cred by booking these sailings on the ship. ($200 on-board credit for EACH sailing).
**
You can also receive additional on-board credit and/or insurance if you transfer these bookings to travel agency. So, If you book this from the ship, hold off on giving TA name. Once you get off the ship, then contact your favorite TA and negotiate the perks for transferring the booking to your TA. This is a win-win situation for you and your TA.
Here's the breakdown of the itineraries for these sailings [total 48 days]:

I dont follow how I would get the additional $600 off. Can you explain that ?
Yes I would qualify for 55 discount, if there is one, and by the time the cruise happens in January I should be a diamond. 3 points to go so I thought I'll take little 3 and 4 day cruises which are highly discounted now on RCL betweeen Thanksgiving and Jan 4 to accumulate the 3 ponts.
But, if I dont find a cabinmate - it wont matter ! This is a single supplememt I just could not pay.

Yes, if you're a senior, then you can get another $600 off on Sailing #2. Your TA may already quoted you senior rate. I don't know if the price you listed above is regular or senior rate, so ask your TA.
as for the point system...if you cruise 12 days or more, you get two pts. On that note, you will get a total of 6 pts for these sailings.
I will be on RCCL ship in two weeks. If you want to grab $600 OB cred, let me know, so I can book it for you.
You won't get any additional discount as Diamond member, unless you book a Balcony stateroom. As I have said before, you can get additional discount from the following:
1) if you're 55+ yrs -- you get $600 off for the Sailing #2
2) you book directly FROM the ship and get a total $600 OB-cred.
Again, this is still a great deal for 3 back-to-back.
I apologize if my responses were not clear. If you need additional clarification, pls PM me.
It's a very kind offer to book the cruise for me while you are cruising however I did check with RCL and they wont allow it. I have to be there.
Additionally RCL is getting very stingy with their discounts, so they may not allow the 600 off they are offering tomorrow plus 600 for booking while cruising.

I'm guessing you're a novice cruiser?? =) anyway, economy is very bad at the moment and it will stay like this for at least 3 months. This is the best time to "buy" if you have the resource. But, do your homework first.
