Are you a hiker too? I've been doing week long sections on the AT for the last couple of years. I am wanting to go to HI and would like to do some semi-serious hiking and/or bike riding while there.
Anyway, I'm not female, I can't go in Jan and probably not Feb., and I don't really want to spend 4 sea days both going and coming from HI. But have you considered flying over and then taking the 7 night Pride of America cruise, then take another 5-7 days or so to see a bit more by land?
I posted about this a few months ago but had no serious takers. I checked into plane fares and found that flying on Tue. or Wed. could save you several hundred $$ over a weekend flight, so I was thinking of spending Wed-Sat on one island, then board the cruise ship Sat for 7 days, then spend the next Sat-Tue on a 2nd island before flying back home.
This cruise fills up pretty fast so you have to book more than 3 months ahead. Prices are still reasonable in April and May and all through the year NOW, but will start going way up during summer. So if you can't find a female mate Scotty, or if you are another person reading this, then there are two of us guys who would both love to have a companion go along and will try any way we can to make it work out.
