Default May 2014 HAL Alaska cruise

I am looking for a roommate for the Volendam RT from Vancouver to Alaska. Ports include Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan. I am looking for either an inside or an outside cabin. Non-smoker, SWF, 56 looking for woman roommate only. Prices are $699 for an inside cabin.

Default May 14 2014 Volendam Alaska cruise-update

I have booked this cruise with a category N guarantee cabin. The price is $425 plus $659.31 for port fees and taxes. I am a 3 star Mariner, and I imagine I will get an upgrade. It is the only ship leaving Vancouver that day, and with a Wednesday departure and a May sail date, the ports should not be crowded. I would consider upgrading with a roommate.

Sorry, not trying to be picky, just wanted to increase your chances of finding someone to share this wonderful cruise with, but your pricing is skewed.

Just so happens I booked this same cruise yesterday for a client and the price is actually $699 per person (which includes the cruise fare and port fees), plus $189.31 for taxes, for a total of $888.31 per person.

Hope this helps you find someone cause this is a wonderful itinerary and I personally love these smaller Holland America ships.

Pete

Hi
I am a 66 year old lady retired from Business Management and I live in Florida. I'm single, white, with grown married children and my interest is in securing a femal travel companion to share expenses. I do not smoke, am healthy. Since I retired last year my bucket list primarily included travel and I have done that in 2013 and it was very enjoyable
I am interested in the Alaska cruise and wondered if you haven't found a cruise mate, could you forward the itenerary to me?
I would also be interested in a balcony and wondered if this cruise ship offers balconies? and if so what would the rate be?
Thanks
I'm Sheryl ..flstpete is my username.

The Volendam has a super itinerary. I am not disputing the prices you gave-I just gave what was on my invoice. So $699 a person-I have a category N guarantee. Since there are only two of those on the ship plus I am a 3 star mariner and the sailing is not selling well, chances of an upgrade look good. Anyone interested? I have 2 tours planned- a small whale watch tour limited to 6 people in Juneau with a stop at Mendenhall Glacier, and a bus tour to Emerald Lake for $79.

This is a smaller older ship, so the only balconies are associated with suites and those are very expensive.

The itinerary is leaving from Vancouver and includes Tracy Arm, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, & Ketchikan.

If the prices on your invoice are what you showed below, then something is definitely wrong. Plus, you said you have a guarantee and there are only two of those available. There's no way of knowing how many guarantee cabins they have available on the ship. We can tell how many category N cabins there are, but the cruise lines do not tell anyone how many of the guarantee cabins are available. But you are right about chances are good you could get an upgrade - one good thing about guarantee cabins. Then again, with guarantees, sometimes you can end up in a not-so-good location (been there done that!). So hopefully you'll get some really nice.
