Default Antarctica

Anybody under the age of 40 have any interest in HAL's rare Antarctica cruise?

I've been wanting to do this for a couple years, but the single supplement is just too much for me. I know HAL tends to be an older crowd, so it'd be cool to share with someone within a decade or so. (I'll be 29!)

Two choices:

1.)

Mon Dec 22 Santiago (Valparaiso), Chile 5:00pm
Tue Dec 23 At Sea
Wed Dec 24 Puerto Montt, Chile 8:00am 5:00pm
Thu Dec 25 Castro, Chile 8:00am 5:00pm
Fri Dec 26 Puerto Chacabuco, Chile 8:00am 5:00pm
Sat Dec 27 Chilean Fjords (Cruising)
Sun Dec 28 Canal Sarmiento (Cruising)
Mon Dec 29 Strait of Magellan (Cruising)
Mon Dec 29 Punta Arenas, Chile 6:00am 6:00pm
Mon Dec 29 Beagle Channel (Cruising)
Tue Dec 30 Glacier Alley (Cruising)
Tue Dec 30 Ushuaia, Argentina 2:00pm 8:00pm
Wed Dec 31 Cape Horn (Cruising)

Fri Jan 9 Punta del Este, Uruguay 8:00am 5:00pm
Sat Jan 10 Montevideo, Uruguay 8:00am 5:00pm

Hi, I'm Tom, 36 from Chicago. I was looking at Antarctica too, although cruising with a research vessel and landing on the ice would be cool, but that's really down the road for me moneywise. I booked my parents on HAL last year, Buenos Aires to Valparaiso (minus the Antarctica part) and they enjoyed it. They're in their early 60s and were the youngest aboard, so its true. I've done about 8 cruises so far and Asia, New Zealand, and S. America are on my punch list. HAL included Rio a few years back but now only does it during Carneval. Both itineraries are good although it tends to be slower in Jan for me at work to take longer vacations. Personally, I'd fly into Rio for a few days then go to Argentina a day or two before the cruise. Let me know if you're still looking. I've done 4 cruises solo before while supplement was about 30%, but most of the trips I like now (unless repositioning) are 100% supplement!

I'm still considering it, they usually drop the cruise price more closer to, but the air gets more expensive then. Brazil is kind of a pain for visa's and I'm not sure I can do more than 3 weeks, so I will probably pass on that. January works better for me as well, but the December cruise has a few more ports.
