Default US Currency

Currency exchange establishments abroad are no longer accepting the old US currency. Theywant only the new bills with the large pictures. It seems they are afraid of counterfeit. Be sure to exchange you old bills for new ones at your bank before you sail.

Where and when did this happen? So far I haven't seen anyone really much care about new vs old bills. In fact, the only problem we have enver encountered was with the new bills and the merchants looking at them funny when they first started coming out. <G>

On Russian river cruise last year, we were advised to bring only new bills. Also wanted us to pay shipboard tips in American money and not Russian money.
