Check out www.tahiti-perles.com , I bought my wife a pair of earrings at their Bora Bora store last year. They are not the least expensive but they have a good quality product. They also have a number of stores. Loose pearls are good if you don't like the settings they offer, and you can make them into whatever you like when you return home.
We will be going on the Tahitian Princess in April and I plan to buy a really nice strand while I am there. Can anyone give me some advice about bargaining for them and/or a reasonable expectation for price? (For the sake of arguement, lets say 13mm, 20 inch, green-black color, A quality?) I need to budget for them since this is going to be my Christmas present for 2002 and 2003
Great Forum, everyone --- I have enjoyed reading all the old posts!
Anybody going to Moorea needs to go to Teva's - it's an artist/pottery studio & pearl shop - the best deal on quality pearls in all of the islands. I've been to the islands 4 times in the past 2 years - and by far Teva's is the fairest priced & best quality. I got a full strand of A & B (mixed) quality for about $850-900 US. It's amazing. And they are drop dead gorgeous. They close for long lunch - in typical French style, but it's worth it to schedule around the open hours. Check out the garden area - yes, that's their open air kitchen facing Cook's Bay! Awesome!
