Most of the shops are open 7 days a week.I don't remember seeing any that were closed the last time I was there on a Sunday.(2001) I am almost sure ther is a Diamonds International in Nassau, but I don't remember its exact location. Most likely on Bay street with everything else.Prices are hard to rate unless you know exactly what you are looking for and know what it costs in the states. The one advantage you have is no sales tax even if the price is the same.Always remember to look at several stores before buying and use that to your advantage when negotiating price. All merchants will lower their price when they think your going to walk.Hope this helped you.
Thanks Golfman, I had read somewhere that the shops in Nassau are closed on Sunday and that worried me!
I do know what I am looking for and what the prices are in the states. I know shopping is better in St. Thomas, but we will busy doing other things, and I thought since Nassau is such a short visit that would be a good shopping day.

We were there on a Sunday and there weren't many shops open at all. St. Thomas is your best port for overall shopping. You can often find the same shops right at Havensight where you will probably be docked. Make sure to do some comparison shopping at home, so you will know a good value.
In my experience, you will pay more in Nassau than in St. Thomas. St. Thomas has so many jewlery stores it is mind boggling, more competition can work on your side to getting a better price. Still you do have to know your prices, and you might be able to strike a bargain in Nassau, but as I said the prices were better in St. T and they were more willing to bargain.
Thanks Carrie for reporting back. Once again, we are stopping at Nassau, so this is very important to our "shopping requirements". Sure hope you bought something that will always remind you of a great cruise vacation.
