Does anyone know if it's possible to buy alcohol while at a port and bring it back to your room to drink? I'd like to avoid the pricey drinks on board. I'm not sure if the cruise lines look in your bags while getting back from a port? I'm going on Celebrity Constellation if that makes a difference?!
Concerning liquor...I read in the paper the other day that some airlines are not permitting any alcohol over 75 proof as carry on luggage. Anyone buy a case from the islands and bring it in the overhead bins, or did you check it. If you did check it, was there any liquor in the bottles when it was retrieved from the baggage claim area?
They will keep it til you disimbark. Most of the liquior stores carry pints that fit nicely in your pockets.Bring back to your room and enjoy. I`ve done this on 10 cruises without a problem.I also bring a twelve pack of soda with me.Put in your suit case.
I just called American Airlines as we're flying them from San Francisco to JFK to London to Rome. Asked about carrying on a bottle of booze (80 proof). She said no problem. Then I'll repack in my checked bag to get it on the cruise ship.
a lot depends upon the cruise line. You can put a bottle in your carry-on bag from the island, wrap it in a towel, sometimes they go thru your carry-on, sometimes they just pass it thru the x-ray machine. If you are planning on buying your duty-free limit, then no you can't bring it on for in cabin consumption unless you are a pack mule. They will take your liquor purchases from you when you board, log them, give you a claim ticket. The booze will be in your room on the last night of your cruise before you go to bed.
Buy those little "shot" bottles and place them in your checked luggage within a plastic bag. My husband and I did this last year when we traveled on the Carnival Triumph and no one bothered us. We placed the plastic bag among our clothing and then placed the bottles in the safe in our room.
