There are no Fashion Malls really close to Port Everglades. However, there are two large malls: Galleria Mall (about a $15 taxi ride each way) and Sawgrass. Check out a web site for Abacrombie to see where they are located near FLL.
Did some previous research on Sawgrass but never made it there to confirm the rumors! It is listed as having 400 name brand stores/outlets and numerous restaurants. (Their website has a complete listing of all the stores)
Perhaps it will make our agenda in Feb!
Sawgrass Mills is located at the crossroads of West Sunrise Boulevard and Flamingo Road, 10 miles west of Fort Lauderdale and 30 minutes from Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.
there are a couple of strip malls on 17th Street which is really close to the pier. No name brand stores, but local stores with good quality merchandise. You have to go to the Galleria for serious shopping - requires a cab ride.
RA: If by PGA you mean The Gardens of the Palm Beaches mall on PGA Blvd., that is a good hour north of Fort Lauderdale, just north of West Palm Beach.
With all the lane closures on I-95, and all the construction, it makes no sense to drive that far. And the Gardens doesn't have anything special that you can't get closer - like at the Galleria or even Boca's Town Center.
Town Center has a Nordstroms - Gardens doesn't yet.
I haven't been to the Galleria in a few years, since I moved out of Broward County, but it has a Burdines, Dillards, Neiman-Marcus and Saks, I believe.
It's a taxi ride from Port Everglades -- maybe 15-20 minutes.
Sawgrass Mills is HUGE, the stores are all outlet type, and it takes whole day [at least] to do it right!!!
Go to Aventura,,in my opinion it is the best in South Florida, it is only about 15 minutes south down I 95 in aventura, great shopping (abercrombie, bebe, arden B, nordstroms, and many more!, food (sushi, cheesecake factory, PF changs).
Haven't been to Sawgrass in awhile, but I wasn't impressed with the "sales". I'm such a bargain shopper, I can find what I like/need closer to home for better prices. I was told by one of the clerks that the designer stuff is designer, just lower quality material, stitching and stuff. That said, people come from South America and actually rent Uhauls to buy stuff in quantity. It has too many stores to see even in one day, so if you love to shop, you should try it.
as a local FLL resident this would be the list of malls that i am most familiar with: Galleria on sunrise blvd. High end stores Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Saks, others Broward Broward Blvd na University drive just norht of I-595. Generic mll. Macys', sears, penney's, etc. mid size Sawgrass Mills on sunrise at sawgrass turnpike/i-75. VERY LARGE. supposed to be outlet, but you better know your prices. osme true outlets Pompano square US 1 and Copans road. older limited shopping, but i being refurbished Coral Square Atlantic Blvd and University, Coral Springs. Average mall
Flea Markets: Swap Shop Sunrise blvd. Outdor flea market is just that. Some "indoor" shops are more fixed fetures, but bargaining is accepted/tolerated. Festival Sample road and the turnpike. indoor fixed booth mall. good selections of clothing, some jewelry at reasonable prices. also has day spa, artworks, etc. Hope this helps everyone
