Can anyone tell me what types of shops there are on board? We're cruising RCCL's Mariner of the Seas 7/11/04 Eastern Carib. Are there t-shirts? sweatshirts? on the ship with the various ports of calls? Also, this "Del Sol" I'm reading about, is it easy to find once I'm off the ship? We are doing an excursion in the afternoon, but may explore close to the ship in the AM.
Yes, you'll find shops onboard that sell t-shirts/sweatshirts, but mostly with the RCL logo on them. Look for the sales by checking your cruise compass daily, everyday there is something on special. There is also some clothes shops along with perfume and a liquor store, etc.
Del Sol is now in many places in the eastern caribbean, but I think they originated in St. Thomas. They are right downtown in St. Thomas and in St. Maarten. Their stuff is pretty cool - changes color in the sun. They invented the technology to do this, but you can find "generic" tshirts and other stuff with the same technology for far less cost in other shops, especially in St. Thomas. Just look for signs in the shops that say "changes color in the sun." I bought some nail polish at Del Sol....very cool!
my daughter and I both have Del Sol sunglasses, they are great for driving, and if they get lost or broken , for 10 dollars more they will send you a new pair. They are also in Orlando, Florida, near Sear World and Universal
Theres a Del Sol on Hilton Head too. Has anyone had problems with their nail polisher coming off soon after applying it? It doesnt seem to "stick" to my nails for long and Ive tried everything! As for the shops on board, if you see something you like, buy it then and there, especially if the size you want is limited. Towards the end of the cruise, they mark the items down a lot, but most often its the odd sizes that are left (like XXXL, or XS). Most of the items are logo stuff, but there is a little boutique that sells dresses, etc (like if your luggage gets lost, you have a place to buy evening wear).
