What are known to be the "buys" you can get in St.Thomas and/or St Maarten? Looking for perfume, cigarettes, some souveniers.

You should easily find all those items in both St. Thomas and St. Maarten...we did find cigaretts cheaper in St. Maarten, but check and see what your allowance is on those.

You get a better deal on Diamond Jewellery and Watches in StMaarten the further you go up main street away from the sea. We have been visiting a small shop for years and never had a bad purchase.
On one diamond bracelette my wife could not make up her mind, so the shop suggested that we take it with us back to the UK and if she liked it, just mail the money.
10 days later we mailed the money.

Little Switzerland has always been fair. I have bought many watches and jewelry there. Raymond Weil, Omega. Las t year I got 2 movados ( set of his and hers) for about half the cost of buying in the US.

It seems like everyone talks about buying jewelry when they're in the virgin islands. My husband and I want to bring some cool gifts back to family for christmas but can't afford jewelry for everyone. Any cost effective ideas? We also want to find something to bring back for ourselves to remember our trip.
