Yes I agree that is a pretty nice area for shopping.
I wouldn't even go down the street to the other stores. They are not that great and I didn't feel really safe in that area.
Save your shopping for Grand Cayman or Cozumel. Jamaica is not know for shopping unless you want Reggae items, music, t-shirts etc.

I second that little compound. Walk to the end of the street when you get off the ship, and its on the right corner. Unlike the Taj area just aroud the corner, this place was nice! No one followed me around the shops, no one tried to sell me stuff, etc. I got my son a little steel drum at a reggae shop there. Theres a little book store, Margaritaville, several jewelry and clothing stores (chains on the island), and some other little boutiques.
