First of all, the Cruise director may tell you this is not a shopping port. OK I agree it is not St. Thomas or St. Maarten. However we were fortunate enough to be docked right at Roseau (sometimes ships come in alternate port). I found right at dock local market stands with some real "unique" bargains. There is the usual island items (clthing, straw etc.) there is a small art gallery of hand painted canvases that range around 50-75, in the market on the street I located one vendor down to left and on a lower level of her stand selling same prints for $25! Not as much or large but a great local sovenier. There was also a wonderful man further down (past Land shop) hand carving out of native wood parrots for hanging on the wall $20-$30. He said it would take him 2-3 days to carve each one. I took photos of art and also his carving. I will work on creating a gallery and trip review. If you want a photo emailed or more info feel free to drop me an email. I am happy to share my knowledge and opinion of Dominica, Antigua and St.Maarten since these were islands we were "rerouted to".
