Default what to buy in st maarten

My husband and I will be sailing on Crown Princess 01/26/2007 from Puerto Rico going to Barbados, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia and St Thomas. I have been to all the islands except St Maarten. Would like to know what are some good ideas for souvenirs on the French side. I think I will get chocolate and such on the Dutch side, but I am stumped about the french side.
I collect plates and knick knacks for my home. Any suggestions?

I actually love the shopping in St. Maarten best. You can find almost anything, good prices on electronics, cigaretts and liquor as well. Also lots of shops, so enjoy the shopping there. I've also noticed that many of the locals don't bother you while walking around the streets like they do in other ports.

www.guavaberry.com
Guavaberry is a local liquor that is unique to St. Maarten and it is a must on your visit to the island.

Art and sculptures is what to shop for in St maartin. Also the liquor was cheap. The place is beautiful. One of myfavorite ports in the Caribbean.

If you shop right, St. Maarten is now the best place for deals on many things.

Do something REALLY different!

Have the cab driver put you over to the airport. You can stand on the beach & have a commercial airliner behind you landing about 20 feet over your head. Just watch the jet blast from the engines! Stand closer to the restaurant so the plane & length of the beach is behind you as a backdrop.

Now that's different! You can see a bunch of photo's of landings over on YouTube or any search engine.
