Closely related to an earlier question, I have one of my own.
My wife and I will be in Egypt (Port Said port stop) next month and have our choice of two tours which interest us. Both include the Great Pyramids at Giza, the Sphinx, etc., but differ in that one adds the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Cairo and the other adds the Step Pyrimid of Sakkara.
We would like to do both but cannot and must make a choice.
Any advice from some of you Egyptianologists out there will be appreciated.
We did the Great Pyramids, Sphinx and Museum of Antiquities in November from Alexandria. It was a memorable experience. Standing in front of King Tut's solid gold burial mask, a sight so familiar from books, magazines and posters was awe inspiring.I, too would have liked to have gone to the step Pyramid, but realise the Cairo Museum is a better choice. You can only visually take in a pyramid for so long.
I will also be in Cairo in September (from Alexandria). I am interested in a private tour instead of a mass tour with the cruise ship. My uncle traveling with me is 80 years old and I would like to tour things at a slower pace than with a large group. Do you happen to know of any reputible tour guides or companies? Or is that even advisible due to safety in Cairo?
