Which snorkeling excursion in Cozumel on Pride?

My wife and I will be on a cruise (Carnival Pride) in June 2002 for the Western Caribbean itinerary.

In Cozumel my wife wants to shop and I want to snorkel. So, I figured that we can do both if we do one of the ship’s snorkeling excursions and just do our own shopping. The ship offers 2 snorkeling excursions (each of which are 2 hours): 1) Island Adventure Snorkel off of Villablanca Reef; and 2) Marine Park Unlimited Snorkel (a reef inside a “protected area”). Both of these excursions are about the same price ($31 or $32 per person respectively). Which one is the better one to do?

My wife and I both have our own snorkeling equipment, but I can’t imagine any local snorkeling companies offering too much better of a deal to us – or am I wrong?

Skip the excursions and just take a cab ($8) to Chankanaab Park ($10pp). Best snorkeling in Coz is right off the beach there.

Ditto Pilgrim, we were there twice in 2 years, both times much less rushed, much less hassle, much less dinero than taking ship sponsored shore excursions. I'd recommend your own snorkeling equipment, though you can rent some there. Beautiful park and grounds, and the snorkeling is awesome!
