The only place where I saw a lot of snorklers was in Cabo, out near Lands End. But from reading some reviews, it is not as stellar as in the Caribbean. Wish I could offer more help, but as Pamda always says, when all else fails, search through Google.

costa maya directly to the right of the pier, great prices Mexican Owned not by the Cruise Lines, good prices lots to see. 100 ft from the Pier. Go to the back of the Parking Lot and there is a road leading to it behind a small shed.
Playa del Carmen Xcaret or XaHul, we asked the locals when we were off the ship and they directed us to the least expensive area to find rental cars or the local bus. We went back to Playa and went North of the Pier looking for a place with a red roof sitting back from the beach and you can sit and use the lounges as long as you buy a beverage (great food) and the prices are great.
Have fun.
Cozumel is easy head into town, we did a horse and buggy and then he took us to the Lorena Dive Resort with the Blue Angel Dive Shop (very well respected) and we paid $5 US for all day snorkelling right off the shore. Beautiful.
Have fun

Are you saying that there is a beach behind the parking lot in Costa Maya or a restaurant, or what? Is there a place to rent snorkel equipment too?

You have to go behind the Costa Maya Cruise Port to gain access to the road leading to the Beach Club.
As you are walking or trollying down the pier on your right is the Mexican Beach Club, you will notice on the left the Commercial Cruise Line Area. At the Beach Club they rent gear, we did not have to pay for the nice lounges and we purchased great food. Lots of Iguana's if you go past for a walk on the Beach. Kids loved it and so did we.
