I am going on a cruise with Voyager of the seas and would like to do the PADI course, but nobidy in Royal Caribbean seem to know what is the schedule in the training on board. I wonder if after the 12h if instructions there will be time to do other shore trips. Also I wonder if the 2 dives are at 2 diffrent locations or at one port. Please, respond if you have any info.
Full open water diver certification requires 4 dives in the ocean or a lake in addition to pool and classroom work. These are always done over two dive days. The PADI web site explains that there is now a sub certification for vacationers interested in diving. This new certification restricts you so that you can only dive when accompanied by an instructor, but if you only plan to dive once a year or so, it might not be a bad option.
To free up cruise time, you might consider completing all classroom and pool work before you go. The course costs about $125 or so. You can then do the 4 certification dives with the onboard instructor and become a fully certified diver at the end of the cruise.
