Destiny Shore excursions??

Taking our second cruise loved the first (Sept-going in March). Any help on the above? Online pricing? We took a snorkeling/catamaran/beach/booze cruise in Cozumel it was great and a Kayak/snorkel/beach/bike/lunch/drinks in PlayadelCarmen great time too!

But this trip with four ports and many seem to be the same I am attempting to do some research.

We went with Godfreytours.com in St Thomas, great guy and great tour 20$ per person...rained in Martinique, we tried to go to a beach but...went with glorytours.org in barbadoes, check out their website...and rented a jeep in Aruba, easy to get around have fun

St Thomas of course is famous for shopping. Leave a few hours for that. Try beaches such as Maegens Bay (can get crowded) , better choises are Coki Beach and Saphire Bay. Both have all facilities, less crowded , and have some nice snorkelling right off the beach. Some folks like to take a ferry to beaches ob St John, I think the above recommendations are just as good and you save lots of ferry and taxi time.

Dominica is a less developed island. Not a lot of beaches. There are a couple of good snorkel tours offered off the ship,. Certain times of the year you can whale watch off the coast. In the interior they take you up into the rain foresy to see Emerald Poll and tRafalger Falls. By a post card instead.

Barbados offer some great snorkelling and beaches. Shopping beyond the port area (like in Bridgetown) can be skipped. The interior and far side of this island are fabulous for photographing and nothing matches a stop in a local rum shop for a "real" rum punch (not like any bartender ever made you ). There are gardens to visit, several distilleries to tour and Harrison Caves. Island is beautiful and safe..

Aruba is a desert island off the coast of Venezuela. All the development is on one side as trade winds batter the windward side. There are great beaches (and all beaches are public). Ask a cab driver to take you out near the "highrise " hotels and ask to be dropped off near the beach by Pelican Pier where you will find facilities. Snorkel tours take you to a reef and often to two wreck sites. Some folks have fun by going to the island beach run by DePalm Tours. Best description is it has everything you might want to do on a beach, Shopping downtown is great, Go behind the shopping centers to find some of the better stores.

We just got back a week ago. Beautiful ship.

St Thomas-took the ferry to Trunk Bay on St John on our own. Surf was up and hardly any beach access. Left after almost an hour there....should never have stayed that long. (Several ship shore tours were canceled this day due to rough waters) Shopped in St Thomas. Talked to some that did the Paradise Point Tram for $15 each...said it was worth it...beautiful view.

Dominica- Booked a tour with Ken's Hinterland Adventure Tours online before the cruise (www.kenshinterlandtours.com). We did Trafalgar Falls and Ti Tou Gorge. Have visited the falls before, they are nice. The Gorge was neat...really suggest seeing it. It was only $25 per person and we didn't pay until we got there. (Hint: get off the ship at 9:00...we had to wait on some that evidently couldn't tell time) My husband talked to some divers that said the diving was great at Dominica.

Barbados- Took a taxi to The Boatyard Beach Club. Taxi is $3 each, each way. $12 admission price but that includes use of chairs, umbrellas, water trampolines, climbing 'iceberg', restrooms, showers. You get $5.00 in 'tokens' to use at the bar/grill also.

Aruba-rented a Jeep from Super Car Rental and toured on our own. We ate at the Buccanner Restauran that night. (We have been to Aruba before so it was easier to do on our own there) My husband dove here....was disappointed...low visibility.

The hair dryers in the cabins are basically useless. You're not supposed to use your hair dryers or irons in the cabin...you can use the hair dryer if you don't leave the dryer on continuously.....dry a bit and then turn it off, etc... (I threw a breaker to learn that one!)

Karaoke Bar fills up fast each night in the Downbeat Lounge at 9:00. Very entertaining!

Monday and Thursday are the two formal nights.

We are planning a trip on Destiny July 2005 (oh so far away yet!) and also had idea of renting a jeep. Can you tell me moer how you decided on Super Car Rental, did you reserve in advance? How much and did you use your own insurance? Thanks.
Anyone else rent a jeep on Aruba?
