Can any one tell me about the Gold Rush Trail Camp Adventure? This is from HAL in Skagway, Alaska. and it is in conjunction with the White Pass Scenic Rail ride. What happens here at the camp? Are we driven to this camp site by bus? It sounds like it's an extra hour from the norma Scenic Rail ride. Did people like it?
Two summers ago while visiting Skagway via the Vision of the Seas we took the White Pass Railroad to the summit in Canada, and then took a bus down the opposite side of the the river valley to a mining camp replica. It was a very scenic and enjoyable trip. At the camp they put on a gold rush skit which was cute, showed us their huge malemute dog, and then we panned for gold dust (which they had seeded into the gravel and sand.). The bus the took us back to town where we did some shopping and then walked back to the ship. The bus took some all the way back to the ship. The boarding area for the train was within walking distance of the pier. We enjoyed the trip and everyone else also seemed to enjoy it too. We could see the little dot of the ship from the summit, and on the trip the guide in the train described the scenery and the gold rush. It was funl. Jim
