Default Costa Maya - KOHUNLICH OR CHACCHOBEN RUINS?

My 14 year old son and I will be cruising Inspiration on 8/15. We will be stopping at Costa Maya and he wants to tour a ruin. Does anyone have any experience or any suggestions they can offer me as to which of the ruins are better, the Kohunluch or Chacchoben?

I haven't done the K ruins, but did enjoy the C ruins this past April. As I understand it, the Chacchoben bus ride and tour were shorter than the Kohunluch tour (4 hours total compared to 6).

I'm not a huge history buff, so the shorter tour was just right for me - enough time to take some photos, look around, learn some history, but not too long so I didn't get bored.

Thank you so much! I did notice that the C ruins were much shorter than the K and wondered if 6 hours might be a bit long. I'm not a history buff, and neither is my son (although he does want to tour a ruin), but you helped me make up my mind. I'm going with the shorter C ruin. Thanks again!

Want a really good opinion about Chacchoben compared to Kohunlich?, try contacting one of the native guides from Chacchoben.

My family and i had such a terrific experience with Ivan, who arranged a private tour for us at $40 p/person compared to $73 that they charche you on the ship.
