Just wondering about the logistics of renting perhaps a jeep type vehicle in Aruba. We have been to Aruba on previous cruise and would like to explore island a bit more on our own. I have seen National car rental and others listed at airport pick up location, does anyone know if there is one near the ship dock area, or will pick up?

Went to Aruba in May of this year and rented a jeep through American. It was a real Jeep Wrangler and the ship docks literally right at the jeeps. We called ahead and reserved - I want to say it was about $80 or $90...really fun! Hope that helps!
we just returned last month. as you exit through the duty free building, there will be a stand guards. ask them or vere three feet off to your right, a gated enterence through a cement wall houses the car rentals. We chose the largest jeep 4x4, was about $90 and $20 for gas as it is $3.50 per gallon.
You'll receive a crazy map, with no road names... but you'll do just fine, all markings are done by restaurants and color coded roads.... we were only lost once, for a 5 minute turn around. This is the BEST way to see aruba..
ps, try the natural or national forest, where the natural bridge is, also take the insurance. Due to hurricaines, some of the roads are a bit more than bumpy, but still safe as tour busses take the same routes.
