food safe in Mexico?

Is it safe to eat at the local restaurants in Costa Maya and Cozumel? I've heard stories before, and didn't know if it is still the case that you "shouldn't drink the water...etc."?

Be sure and drink bottled water not tap water. The resorts always, at least in Mazatlan, wash the vegs etc in purified water.
Many people that get sick in Mexico are sick from drinking too many margaritas and not enough water. They get dehydrated and that will give you the same symptoms at the Montazumas revenge thing. Have fun and enjoy the local food and drink, just be sure to drink some water, or gatorade, or better yet pedialite. Do it for your body and for your vacation.
Happy Cruising,

My son has been living in Majahual for 2 months and can't say enough about how wonderful the food is. He lived there for 4 months a year ago and never got sick until he hit Brownsville Texas on his way home. The food is fresh and delicious. He does however drink bottled water. Enjoy! Majahual is 2 miles from the cruise ship pier.

My DH & myself have been to Cozumel & Acapulco ( loved lunch in Cozumel at "Poncho's Backyard") right near the dock as you get off. The food was incredible & we've loved every minute of it at both places (Margarita's were also great). We've had no isues with Mexican food (been there only twice), but we do make it a habit to drink bottled water to be safe! So far so good! Cathy

Haven't had any problems with the food. We've been warned to stay away from the ice as well! So we drink from cans or our bottled water.
