We recently returned from Princess Diamond's 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise. One of the ports we visited was Mazatlan. Before leaving we had found a gentleman who allowed us to book a half-day or full day tour of Mazatlan with him. Half day would have cost $20 per person, and our full day cost $30 per person. This was money well spent. Our tour guide found us where all the passengers are released by holding a sign with our last name on it. He escorted us to his van, which was air-conditioned (necessary) and would easily hold twice our number. We had a family of four. He took us all around the city of Mazatlan; to all the scenic stops, important monuments, shopping areas, safe eating establishments, the beach... all the while narrarating life in Mazatlan. He would stop at the areas we were interested in walking about and wait for us to take us to the next destination. Our guide was very personable. His name was Luis, and he let us call him "Tomato". This name was given to him when he entered the Mardi Gras royalty contest and lost narrowly to the mayor's relative. My daughter is learning Spanish in school, and he was an excellent teacher helping the whole family become more familiar with the Spanish language. We all enjoyed Mazatlan the best of all three ports and this was highly due to our tour guide. If you want to book a tour of Mazatlan for a reasonable price and great service, contact Luis Rosas Gonzalez "Tomato" at email@example.com or www.oletours.com.
