Default Canada/New England - Sept 16th

Can you please let me know if the shore excurions that run about $60pp for the Canada/New England tour is worth the $$$$ or are we better off going at it alone. I have never been on this route before, but definately want to see the Kennedy Museum and some shopping in Boston. Any other ideas for the rest of the trip would be welcomed:

Boston, MA
Portland, ME
Sydney, NS
Halifax, NS

Also, it the balcony 8A a good choice? I know it is a little late, since it is already booked, but am going with another couple and we wanted 2 cabins that were as close to side by side as possible.

Thanks so very much
Just love this site and all the help I have been given over the past 2 weeks.

Hi. I was on the Victory on the same itinerary a few years ago... Here is what I suggest.

Boston: Duck Tour... Super fun! http://www.bostonducktours.com/
Portland: Go see Portland Head Light or take a trolly tour. Portland is very cute, but not my favorite stop on this cruise
Sydney: We went to the Casino (within walking distance from the port). There isnt much to do in Sydney, but dont miss the send off! There were about 20 cars parked right by the water honking their horns and flashing their nights as we sailed away.
Halifax: We went to the Titanic cemeteries and museum and I would really recommend that. We also went on a bit of a bar crawl and drank way too much Alexander Keiths beer, which was a great time. I can give you names of some bars, and a place with the best nachos ever, if you want

Have a great time!

C

may i ask, is alexander keiths really worth the money or can you get the same tour experience by going out on your own. i mean, can people just walk in the bar off the street and see the same entertainment or it is an exclusive tavern for the ship tours ??? thanks for any reply

Alexander Keiths is a brand of beer. There is a tour of the brewery, which I did not do, so I cant give any input on that. I just drank a beer at every bar I went to And, yes, you can easily do it yourself. Dont go on the bar crawl sponsored by the cruiseline.

I am cruising on Sept. 16th on the NCL Dawn. I plan to buy a tour for each city since I live on the west coast and I don't think I will be returning to that area. They say that Boston is easy to just walk around and do your own tour of just walking and being a looky loo. But I would rather take a tour to make sure I don't miss anything.
I still don't have a list of the tours for my cruise. Luci
