Default sea kayaking in Alaska - which port is best?

I'll be visiting Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan in July. I would like to go sea kayaking at least once and would like to know if anyone would recommend one port over another for this activity. Thanks.

I did notice that excursion in Ketchikan, so look through your list and you should see some for that port.

Thanks for your response, but I'm aware that sea kayaking is offered in all three ports on my itinerary (Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan). I am trying to determine if kayaking more worthwhile in one port over another.

Default Sea Kayaking

I've been to Alaska twice on cruises and went kayaking on a glacier lake in Skagway and sea kayaking in Sitka. Sitka was by far the better choice in my opinion. We were able to see bald eagles, and the salmon were so close you felt like you could scoop them up with your hand. They provided complete rain gear, so even though it was misty, it was an incredible experience. Glacier lake kayak outside of Skagway was at the end of an incredibly hot summer and everything was brown, plus the smoke from fires in Canada made it not as enjoyable. We had a nice train ride back to Skagway, but would just as soon have taken the train only and kayaked elsewhere.

Hope this helps.

Elaine
