What is the best shore excursion here?
I have read on many post that the best thing to
do here is lay on the beach. I love to do this,
but would also like to know that there is more
to do then that.
Since I burn like a lobster, beaching is on my no-no list. Doc's orders. But, Half Moon Cay has a local band playing, a few Bahamian shops, the tiniest post office I've ever seen, a huge barbecue area (food comes off the ship) and a bunch of water oriented "tours" I had fun the last time just wandering around a bit. Beautiful little chapel and gorgeous beaches, plus some short trails to walk. They also have a tram that runs around the area if you get tired. It's one of my favorite places, just for the beauty of it.
Enjoy!

Kim,
Have a great time! The private islands, such as Half Moon Cay, have always been some of my favorite ports. If you snorkel, or want to learn how, that would be the one "tour" you might want to consider. It is amazing. You feel like you are inside a giant aquarium and the critters come to see what the heck is swimming around in their "bowl".

P.S. It is also very safe to snorkel. Even if you don't swim, you might want to consider it as they put you in a life vest and you just float around.
I know that I am a little late on this review, but
here it is.
We loved this beach! We really enjoyed
the peacefullness. If you go down the beach a
bit, you can pretty much have it to yourselves.
Carnival brought food to the island, so the eats
were free. Didn't seem the most sanatury, but
good. They set a table to the side of our buffet
lines to feed the birds. We didn't do an excursion,
but would have liked to have done the horseback
riding. I guess we will next time!
