We have been to Barbados twice and have taken an excursion on the Silvermoon http://oceanadventures.bb/sailing.htm both times. It was fabulous! You get to go out and go snorkeling, swim with the sea turtles, and then have a relaxing time swimming and eating a delicious lunch before you sail back to the ship. Check out my photos if you want a little idea of the fun we had. If you PM me, I will send you some other places to check out.

If it's you first cruise, why do you think you don't want to do the ones sponsored by the cruise-line? They are generally the best the island has to offer, and they run the gamut from easy walks of historic districts to wild, near extreme sports -- always the best vendors. Generally better than you are going to pick up on your own. Cruise-lines stay with vendors that satisfy guests.

At Tortola we got a tour at the visitors center at the port. It was less than the island tours via the ship and it tourned out to be better than those. The island tours were for about 4 1/2 hours. You don't pay until the end and you can have the driver leave you off in town (it's not a long walk from town back to the ship).

Last time at Barbados we took a taxi to Malibu Beach, pay to have full use of the beach for the day which inlcudes a lounge chair and an umbrella. They do have a place to get food and drinks. You can arrange for the driver to come back for you at a certain time.

Never bee to St Kitts.

If you are interested in sailing on the Silvermoon, I suggest that you e-mail them ahead of time. They book up fast, and aren't available to book at the pier.

You will have a great cruise, no matter which excursions and beaches you go to!
