Shore excursions on Christmas Day

Hi-- We'll be sailing on the Star Princess from Rio on December 22, 2008. Our first port call is Montevideo, on Christmas Day. For those of you with experience on holiday cruises and/or Montevideo, will it be worth looking for a shore excursion that day, or will everything be closed up and deserted. I had also thought of trying a side trip to Punta del Este, thinking that since it is a resort city there might be some things open. I'm not a huge shopping fan, but would at least like to see something of Montevideo and/or Uruguay while we're there.

I'm wondering about the also.

We wll be in Belize on Christmas day. Of course, Cave Tubing seems to be the hot excursion, so I wonder...will they be open?
