We are sailing on the Destiny next month, and I am wondering what is the best way to see a beach with 2 children, 7 and 9. I have seen some information about Passion Beach, but it is for approproriate for children? We will be in Cozumel from 1pm-10pm. Thanks for any information!
I would suggest Chakanaab. Very clean, safe, and a beautiful beach. You should know that the beaches are mostly man made, though. getting into the water requires climbing down some coral "steps".

Another good choice is Paradise Beach. It is family friendly and entry is free. Kids can get a wristband to use all the water toys for $10 each. Depending on where your ship docks it is about a $12/$15 cab ride. That is for the entire cab not per person. They have clean restrooms and available food and bar. You can easily do this on your own without a ships excursion.
I've never done a shore exursion on my own, that hasn't been offered by Carnival. I am willing to try something different though. The only Carnival sponsored shore exursion that I can see for Cozumel is Play Mia. I have also read about places such as Passion Island and Paradise Beach. Has anyone been to more than one of those and can give me a comparison? Like I originally said, looking for somewhere the kids can have alot to choose from.
We have enjoyed Playa Mia twice this year. They have the trampoline and the iceberg.
You can go there on your own via taxi but then factor in various costs once there...
Taxi $7
Entrance to PM is:
Basic $16
Basic with drinks $45
Basic w/ drinks & food $60
With kids you come out about even by doing the Playa Mia beach break DELUXE with the ship since it includes transportation and food/drinks.
The time you appear to be there tho is an issue. You will only have a few hours of good daylight to do the beach and downtown shopping. You will want to be close to the pier before dark. Just have dinner and drinks at one of the pierside eateries. Or, take the kids back to the ship with Camp Carnival and then go out again for some adult time in the evening. 8)

you have gotten some really good suggestions. Channunkaab National Park is a great day for the family, nice beach, snorkeling, aquarium, small replica of the Mayan Ruins, dolphin swims, clean facilities, decent food.
Playa Mia is also a great choice for families, i don't think you could go wrong at either place
