St. Thomas Excursion

We were recently in St. Thomas via the Carnival Victory cruise ship. This was our second visit to this beautiful island. And we would definitely visit this island again! The tour we booked was through Sunny Liston Tours. It was with a crowd of other tourists in an open-air type bus. Sunny dropped us off for shopping, took us up the mountain for terrific sight-seeing and photo ops, took us to a beautiful place for banana daquiris (a replacement spot offering the drinks since the famous place just burned down), and then to the beach of our choice from a selection of 3 beaches. We chose Coki beach.

Here are some random thoughts and comments about this tour:

Jewelry shopping is definitely the thing in the Caribbean. So plan to see many, many jewelry stores. Right next to the port is a jewelry store called Dynasty Dazzlers. I have bought several pieces of jewelry from this store previously and on this trip. A friend has also bought a lot of jewelry from them. Would highly recommend this dealer. Excellent pieces and great prices!

Sunny's ride was a riot! Typically we do not like to participate in the loud, singing, touristy type experiences. As a matter of fact, we've laughed at these type of groups in previous places as they've passed by. However, we absolutely loved this tour! We had fun riding up the hill, wind in our hair, singing along with Sunny on his bus. We loved it so much we got our video camera out and recorded part of the ride. Take this tour without hesitation - you'll have terrific fun! :D

Coki beach offers a changing facility that is quite dirty. We were rather uncomfortable using this facility. The beach/water was pretty, but there are a lot of locals on the beach selling their wares, drinks, renting chairs, etc. This was very much a public beach. The water, sand, etc. was nice, but prepare to see some graffiti, locals and rough buildings around you, this is definitely not a resort type beach. As long as you want that "real" experience then you will enjoy this beach.
