Default SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS?

My husband and I are considering a cruise the first week of Dec and are trying to decide between Eastern or Western Caribbean. I think we are leaning towards the Eastern and I want to swim with the Dolphins! Has anyone done this on an Eastern cruise and if so, where and how was it?

i think u shud go with the western caribbean cruise, and stop at jamaica. u can swim with dolphins at the dolphin cove, and visit dunns river, go tubing and so on, u can make your own schedule. if u want i can give u the name of the tour company i used.
they are excellent tourguides.

Thanks for the article. I agree, captivating the dolphins is just rude!

The dolphin cove/dunns river falls excursion in Jamaica is the best way to do it in my book. I've travelled the world and done lots of neat things, but one of my wife and my favorite things ever was that excursion. It was awesome!

We are planning to swim with the dolphins in Freeport, Bahamas. Wish I could find someone who has done it there. I am 60 years old and am wondering if I am too old for this one. ha ha Have watched videos on youtube but not for Freeport swim. Anyone done this one?

Default We swam in Puerto Vallarta

We swam with dolphins in Puerto Vallarta and loved the experience. (pffft to the idea that it is cruelty to animals...they ARE just animals after all!)

We were in a big blocked off area within a bay...almost like a swimming pool. There were 4 groups of about 6-8, and each group had 2 dolphins. We got to pet them while in the water and ride them twice; once by holding their fin and then once while they swam upside down and we held their flippers.

But also be careful and gentle. One of our dolphins (who was about 2 years old) got a bit too playful. He started jumping over one of us and almost body slamming him into the water. No injuries...but they stopped the experience for a bit to let the dolphins have a time out. I believe the dolphin was just playing and got too excited.
