Alaska Dogsled Shore Excursions
I am sailing on the June 25 Millennium Alaska Northbound cruise. My friends, first time cruisers, have their hearts set on a dogsledding shore excursion. Does anyone have any experience with them? There are several in both Juno and Skagway.
JU54-Sled Dog Summer Camp
JU57-Alaska Sled Dogs & Musher's Camp
JU69-Dogsled Adventure by Helicopter
SK10-Dog Sledding and Glacier Flightseeing
SK36-Musher's Camp & Sled Dog Expereince
I have to admit, I'm torn, I would like to do Skagway's Golden Glassblowing Experience, and White Pass Railway.
Any advice from anyone?
This is an AMAZING excursion! In May 2005 while sailing on NCL Star, I did a dogsled tour in Juneau. We took a helicopter out to Mendenhall (sp?) glacier, met the mushers, dogs and spent a few hours out there. We were able to lead a sled, mush, ride etc. It was the best time! Yes, it is expensive, but totally worth it.
Skagway I took the Whitepass Railway, another great tour.
Have a wonderful trip!
Several years ago now, but we did the heli tour and sledding combination and it was magnificent. Enjoyed the scenery of the heli tour, and then did the sledding on the glacier.
