Default Favorite St. Thomas Beach for

My husband and I (early 60's), my son and DIL (late 30's) and two grandchildren ages 12 and 6 will be sailing on the Explorer of the Seas from Cape Liberty in January.

I've been to Magens Bay years ago, but I'd like to find other beaches less crowded where the kids could snorkel a bit and Grandmom and Pop can find some good beach time.

Any suggestions?

Take the ferry over to St John, and discover some of the best snorkling and beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.

I agree with Trip. The Explorer is a pretty big ship, maybe 3800 passengers?
And St.Thomas is always a busy port-there's probably going to be at least 4 other ships there so you can expect a minimum of 10,000 people converging on the island. Escape to St. Johns! There will be others of course but not nearly as busy as the beaches on St. Thomas. Try Trunk Bay-the snorkelers will love the underwater snorkeling trail.

Default Trunk Bay

Just returned form Trunk Bay, it is beautiful. Not sure I'd drag kids over there because of the time it takes. If the schedule allows it is wonderful.

I was with Snooze on this trip. Great experience.

It was do-able with time constraints but be very aware of your local vs watch/phone vs ships time

Default Trunk Bay

Thanks for all the good information.

How much time would we have to set aside for the ferry to St. Johns? How far is Trunk Bay from the ferry pier?

The children have never been on a cruise or seen any of the islands. I think just riding on the ferry would be a good experience for them.

Review on my blog and photo of Trunk Bay. It gives the times.
