At the end of our cruise we flew from San Juan to Vieques and did a tour of their Biolumenescent Bay. This bay (and a few others within the tropics) has an incredibly high concentration of dynoflagelites that glow when disturbed. It was so worth the trip. To do this during a cruise would require an overnight in San Juan and quite a bit of distance to cover.
And maybe it is a good thing. There is a bio bay on the main island but it is being affected by development. Adding big trips of cruise passengers might add more stress on the bay than Mother Nature can survive.

Took a taxi in Jamaica to the Couples San Souci resort for the day. A day pass is $50.00 per person and is all inclusive. This is a adult only resort, so no kids running up and down the beach, has plenty of things to do including a au-natural beach for those who want a little more tan.
The resort is beautiful, plenty of foliage and tree, and flowers. We really enjoyed our time there.
The taxi driver took us to a out of the way place to shop for souvineers and we really got some good deals. The fair was $20.00 per couple round trip too, so not bad there.

I snorkeled shark ray alley in Belize with Coral Breeze Tours. Keep in Mind Belize is a tender port, company was great, very professional, but people who were not on a cruise ship took their sweet time on Caye Cauker island so we just made it on the 2nd to last tender back to the ship!
Did an excellent custom City/Colonial tour in Mazatlan with Mazatlan Frank loved it so did 12 other women from the ship who joined me and 1 man!
Took a number 10 Jitney bus to Ardastra Gardens and Zoo for one of the best days in Nassau, saw the Flamingo's show, feed the parakeets by hand ate at the local Fish fry (a lovely area looks like Key West where the locals go much cheaper then near the ship) grabbed a taxi back and still had time to shop!
Did Sunny Liston's tour of St.Thomas very inexpensive, saw the mountain top, Drakes Seat, went to Sapphire beach to swim and shopping what a blast!

When our ship docked at Le Havre, excursions were offered to Paris, Rouen, Honfleur and the D Day Beaches, but for some reason not to Mont St Michel. We booked with a local guide to take us there and had a wonderful day.
It is quite a climb up to the top of the monastery, but well worth it for the history and for the view. Then we stopped at a famous restaurant for lunch, all arranged by our guide. Although we like ship's tours in most ports, this is one of those instances where taking an independent tour makes sense and took us someplace that the ship's tours would not.
