I will be on the Carnival Victory Dec. 30 out of San Juan, we have been on 20or so cruises and have been in St Thomas many times. One thing we have not done is take a Catamaran/ Ferry to St. Johns for the day. Can anyone suggest a tour operator for me to contact for this.
Megans Bay, Cokie Beach, shopping had enough of that on St Thomas already.
You really don't need to do an excursion. Just take a taxi over to the other side of the island, grab a ferry, and do your own thing. Cheapest and easiest way to git-r-done.
If you want an organized excursion, look at the independent companies like Shore Trips and Port Promotions that are very reputable, often less expensive, always good, and always a whole lot less crowded.

Your taxi target would be Red Hook to get the ferry to St. John. The ferry is more oft and less expensive than the ferry from Charlotte Amalie.

Just keep in mind, the taxi to Red Hook, then the ferry across and another taxi to the beach, does take up some time. IMHO, well worth the time and effort, St. Johns is absolutely beautiful, have fun.
