Default Grand Turk and St. Maarten

Never been to Grand Turk. Was wondering how is the beach area right by the ship. Also, are the beach chairs free or do they have to be reserved? Looking at a snorkeling excursion at Governors beach, is this area less crowded and worthwhile going too? It has been many years since I have been to St. Maarten. I read of a water taxi somewhere, how often does it run, cost, and is there a beach close to where it drops you off? Thanks in advance for your help.
