Looking for shore excursion recommendations for ColonPanama, Puerto Limon(San Jose) Costa Rica, and Cartagena, Columbia.

We are active folks, and appreciate all recommendations, suggestions, or things to avoid.

Thank you in advance,

A few options for you; one is to do your own thing. Do you research, decide where you want to go, and then when you get to the pier, talk to the many cab drivers and tour guides that will be there to take you anywhere you want to go. Their prices are always negotiable. (We did this in Colon and Puerto Limon.) We do this in alot of ports around the world - we'll find another couple or two who want to share a cab and away we go.

Second, you can look on the cruise line's website and see what they have to offer. Keep in mind that most of the time these are more expensive, alot more crowded, and very regimented in that you have to do what they want, when they want and there's no varying from the schedule.

Third, you can can check around on the various forums and see if there's a roll call of your cruise and see who is putting together a group to do an independent tour together. (We did this in Cartagena in Feburary.)

Fourth, check out some of the independent shore excursion companies, such as Shore Trips (just to mention one of several available) and see what they have to offer. Sometimes these may be the same price, but usually less expensive. But there almost always alot less crowded and definitely not as regimented.

I really enjoyed seeing the locks from Colon, not very adventurous but cool.

There are many Eco-adventure options from Limon. There is nothing in port, or at least wasn't 4 years ago. You are a long way from San Jose though. Get out into the jungle and have fun.
