Default 4 cameras too much

my husband wants to take movie,ditigal,canont70,binocular camera, on our 33daycruise to SA. I am concered about keeping things light . We need so many other things to pack instead of all his cameras. Please help and give us your advise on what would be the best for him to take.
Thank you Donna

Donna,
*Be forewarned that this advice comes from a male who loves "toys".

I agree on trying to keep it light but I'm on your husband's side. I may not use the binocular camera but binoculars are a must, especially if you are cruising the Chilean fjords.

If the movie camera is a VHS camcorder he may be able to live without it. A digital camcorder may be a smaller alternative. He will want to keep the lenses and accessories for the Canon to a minimum. If he can get a case that holds all of the cameras it will take up less space than multiple cases. Chargers and things that can be scratched can be packed within clothes or tucked inside shoes, etc.

In the end you two will have to decide what is important to take and what isn't. The final factor will be the weight and sizes of the suitcases that you will need. You two will have to lug them.

Remember: If your cruise leaves from the U.S. you can only have 50 lbs. per bag unless you want to pay the $25 to $100 extra charge. If a bag is over 100 lbs. you have packed way too much; plus the airline will not check it, even for extra money.

Take care,
Mike

Your post reminded me of when I was in Hong Kong. A teenage boy sat next to me on a tour bus and he had 3 cameras around his neck and also a tripod. Talk about intimidation, as I sat holding my little disposable camera. Lol
