Hello,
We are trying to decide on which fishing excursion to do. We would like to fish in Ketchikan. The one that the cruise offers is called Alaska Sportsfishing Expedition. Does anyone know about this tour? What are the boats like, ie:bathrooms, snacks, inside and outside cabins, individual rods, ect. We have tried to access the website but are having trouble. It is listed as: www.sportfishingketchikan.com Any insight would be great! |

Consider going independent with my top recommended vender- Northern Lights, my family has gone with them several times, always excellent charters. http://www.ketchikanfishing.net/

We also used to go fishing with Ken from Northern Lights Charters- sadly last year when we went to book our annual family fishing trip, we found out Ken had passed away in 2015.
Before we found Ken we used to fish in Juneau before discovering that the fishing REALLY is better in Ketchikan. We were recommended that Best Fishing In Alaska could take care of our large family group of 16 no problem, and they did a heck of a job- fishing boats in alaska carry up to 6 people each, which obviously doesn't work for such a large group as ours, so they set us up with three boats, and we went 5, 5, and 6 to a boat and had a total blast! The three captains all worked together as a group which was amazing, even though the kids and the adults turned it into a boat to boat competition. We, the adults won of course, but the fishing was so good, the kids came close! All in all we fished for about 4 hours and got almost 30 salmon per boat, plus one of the boats caugt two "rock fish", which taste pretty good- almost like halibut! Anyway, we were so happy with the support and service (the owner was super helpful, which says a lot- some of our guys are a bit of a rowdy bunch!) already reserved two boats for our cruise this upcoming summer. www.bestfishinginalaska.com is the address, just like the name. I lost the number, but it's on the website of course, but you can email them at [email protected] Give them a shot, you won't be dissapointed! |

Almost forgot- our group saved something like 600 bucks by booking directly instead of booking through Princess cruises, and we didn't have to go with the large group that bought the fishing tour from the ship. Definitely the way to go.
