Default More Misc. Questions

My husband uses a CPAP, which requires distilled water. Can we purchase distilled water on the ship?

Are there hair dryers in the rooms?

I really appreciate all the answers I've received. Thanks so much.

I called the cruise line. The distilled water will be waiting in our cabin. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was using a CPAP in 2013 and 2014 and every cruise I went on provided distilled water at no charge.

Yes: There will be a hair dryer in the room. Some people say they are under powered and bring their own. My wife has shorter hair and has no problem using the one in the cabin.

In regard to the CPAP. Yes: You can get distilled water on the ship. It would be "best" to contact the Special Needs department of the cruise line you are sailing and let them know. Just call the main number and ask for Special Needs.

Most cruise lines now charge the exorbitant price of around $3 for a gallon. I always leave more than half of it in the cabin on a seven day cruise.

You can also order it from room service or ask your cabin steward. I've done this more often than I've called Special Needs but one time room service said they were out but our cabin steward was able to come through. If worst comes to worst bottled water is available for a couple of nights. You can pick up distilled water at almost any port.

One other suggestion. Pack a new, or very good condition, extension cord in the CPAP bag. There are usually no outlets by the beds so you may need to run the extension cord across the floor. I put a bath towel over the cord to avoid tripping. Some people go as far as putting duct tape over the floor to hold the cord down. I personally find this to be a bit of overkill and not great for the carpet. Just roll up the extension cord each morning and you'll be fine. A 10 or 12 foot cord is adequate. I carry one in my CPAP bag at all times.

Take care,
Mike

Unless things have changed, the hair dryer needs to have the button held down to have it continue working. Its a pain....would suggest a travel dryer, with the wattage you need,it takes less real estate in your luggage, and there are no surprises...which I have found...
