Im going on my first cruise in July and I am thinking of taking the Guide's choice adventure hike in Juneau. Just wondering if anybody has done that and how many miles the hike is.
thanks.

www.alaskawhalewatching.com is Orca Enterprises site.

Is there a further description of the hiking area??? I have found ship hiking tours are very tame and usually good for anyone with about a mile worth of hiking- unless further description? But there are excellent trails to explore on your own. Consider the 3 1/2 mile east loop at the Mendenhall Glacier, only would cost the $10 pp shuttle. Ranger activities also scheduled throughout the day so consider checking the board early to see what is available.

I really want to do the "East loop", ...If You've done it ,can You tell the reasonable amount of time it will take ? Our ship the Zaandam doesn't dock til 2:00pm and I'm assuming , all told, it'll take about an hour or maybe a little more to get to the Vistor's center by the shuttle, so my concern is .. 1- what time is the last shuttle and 2- with the "East Loop" hike will we have enough time to see the "Vistors cente" and still catch the last Shuttle back??

what's Your thought's?

Thanks Srpilo

Yes I have done it, in season MGT runs the shuttle quite late, contact them for their schedule when you will be there. It is a 20 min shuttle ride, get off your ship as soon as cleared and head to their dock booth and purchase your shuttle tickets. The trail should take a couple hours. The visitor center is small with a short movie, and an additional $3 admission. [email protected],

all it says in the description "footpaths wind through glacial valleys and lush, forested mountains. Cascading waterfalls and serene meadows." And it also says expect an elevation gain of up to 1,200 ft within three to six miles

If you want a hike, take the tram to the top of Mt. Roberts, it is right at the bottom where the cruise ships dock, and once you get to the top, keep on going! The views are unbelievable, there is a restaurant, theatre and gift shop, and LOTS of trails.
