Question Ebola ..will you travel?

This is NOT a political discussion!!! I am debating if we should go on a cruise in December and also if I should fly to Germany in January... Has anyone debated this as well and what have you concluded?

Well it's pretty much a global issue now, so if you take out the idea of airports. planes, ports and ships where do you go from there? shopping malls, schools, hospitals, dental surgeons?

All you can do is take whatever precautions you can and hope that someone is looking over you.

I would not let it keep me from going on my cruise unless there was a major increase in the virus. As far as going to Germany I would keep a close eye on whats going on over the next few week not only here but all across Europe
My charter isn't until February and I plan on going.
I'm sure all will be fine.

At the moment I have no where to go. I will also not feed into the mega hysteria, as I think my daughter is. My son is flying to Vegas next week for business. I told him to get some masks..that is the extent at this point, I would go.

Let's face it it is scary, for now the commonality for many is flying, and the person who just has a cold and coughs or sneezes, seated next to you,now might get a second or third look from surrounding passengers.

Go with knowledge and a bit of caution..

Absolutely. We're going to Europe next month and Hawaii for Christmas/New Years. The Flu kills far more people and is easier to catch.

Yes I've thought about it and have come to the conclusion that I'm going to continue with my travel plans. My thought is that we can't be so afraid that we live our lives in boxes. I will take all of the necessary precautions. The bad thing is if someone coughs or sneezes, now people "cry wolf".

We are flying from Daytona, Fl. to Harford, CT. next week. In December we are Flying from Miami, Fl. to Lisbon, Portugal and then to Funchal on the Island of Madeira.
Next April we aregoing to Hawaii.
In spite of world problems, life must go on.

I am not a big Fox News fan but this is one of the most "sane" advice I've heard.

Next month we are flying to UAE (not worrying about MERS) and then to India and Africa on a cruise. My only health concern is the reaction to Yellow Fever vaccination I have to get before we go. We are going back to Africa again next May. We might even throw in a trip to Dallas in June; not going to let a little disease going around keep us grounded.

I will not change my travel plans. We live outside of Dallas. Today I went into Dallas with a large group of ladies shopping at one of the malls. In a week and a half I will fly to Chicago to see my grandsons. We will be back in Chicago for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our next cruise is in February and we would never think of canceling.

Might bring some Lysol wipes along.... wipe the tray table down....
I hear some flight attendants want to pick up our crap wearing disposable gloves instead of their bare hands (yuck) like they always do.

When I went to Africa I received Yellow Fever vaccination as well. I always take the non live one which expires unlike the live one ....but I don't care. I did not have any side effects ...

I have a cruise booked for February. I debated the idea of cruising or canceling. I decided that I am going. I am not going to give up something I love because there is a remote chance I will fall ill. Que Sera Sera.

A wise old friend told me after 9/11/01, "You are not safe anywhere, so you might as well go everywhere".

I have told that to dozens of people over the years and it's a philosophy I live by.

Cruising next week.

After I survived a year in Vietnam, I'm not afraid to go anywhere.

What would be the reason not to cruise to the Caribbean?

You are in more danger in your hometown. You could get shot or be attacked by a stray dog.

I will be travelling. The greater fear is the 100,000 + cases of the flu that kills about 20,000 U.S. citizens each year and the flu virus is easily transmitted.

I read or perhaps heard on the radio that there is a likelihood of the ebola being transmitted to Haiti .
Getting shot or attacked by a stray is not necessarily fatal.I am in my 80's and have neither been shot nor bitten.

The only place cruise ships stop in Haiti is Labadee, which is a secure location far from centers of population. It is only serviced by one cruise line as well (RCI). The likelihood of transmission from locals is remote in the extreme.

I'm travelling in less than a month, flying into Miami for a cruise.

I'm a germ freak to start, . I might make the kids wear vinyl gloves and face masks, cause you just know kids touch everything and don't think twice about touching their eyes, mouth, nose.

Time will tell base on where the hysteria level stands a month from now, new cases etc.

I'm on alert, but then I'm always on alert, especially when cruising. Usually, it's fear of Noro. The last thing I want do to is having someone in my family contract something that will put them in quarantine during our holiday, or worse yet, put their life at risk.

I have been to Labadee several times and expect to go again.

It is quite safe.
