Yes I'm back and had a wonderful cruise. The HAL Oosterdam is beautiful and will recommend the ship anytime, neat and clean in all respects.

The food was good but still lean towards Celebrity for taste and presentation. Desserts were somewhat bland and limited. The night of baked alaska only one other choice for dessert, a mango strudel, disappointment. Can't have everything.

The demographics of age on-board was great, HAL is changing their reputation of the old persons cruise.

Club HAL for the children was fantastic with the parents I spoke with, no complaints. One individual that was a finalist in the "Superstar" karaoke had a crew member volunteer to watch their child, now that is exceptional.

Was able to set up with HAL corporate a gathering for all on the roll call. The beverage and hotel manager were out to please for the group. They went above and beyond with much more than my request, complimentary.
The beverage manager suggested a mingle on the last day of the cruise and was spontaneous and came off without a hitch.

One item is that a request of the cabin numbers from me for our group be presented to the hotel and beverage personnel and all were invited to a VIP party, very special.

The individuals that performed in the shows were very gracious speaking with me about their background and how they were able to put on spectacular shows since they were all over the world and came together for a wonderful presentation.

I'd like to comment that no crew (officer or otherwise) knew I worked for CruiseMates until the last evening. Treatment was with great respect as a passenger.

Having visited the ports in the past I just walked and spoke with the locals and did some shopping, no excursions this time. Of course had to pop in and have a margarita here and there, with guacamole and home made chips, a pure delight.

When I booked this cruise went for a Cat SY GTY and was upgraded to a SS, same spacious cabin just a higher deck. 390 square foot cabin, with a veranda that had two chairs with thick cushions and ottomans, also a teak table and two chairs with plenty of room to move around.

This was my third cruise with Holland. Would I sail with this cruise-line again? YOU BET. Next time it will be a ten day back to the Sea of Cortez and not a seven day.

Happy, Happy all,
Steve (Y2C)
