spirit leaving - is another ship replacing?

Will another ship be replacing the Spirit - or will they no longer have cruises out Alaska or Mexico with carnival?

Of course, this is just a guess ...... but my guess is that they will pull the Splendor from LA full time and use it in Alaska AND California to replace the Spirit.

I have been assured by other cruisers who seem to be in the know (which I am not about ship size) that the Splendor will "fit" in Alaska (other ships of similar size with other cruise lines do it).

And since the Splendor has that COVERED Lido...it would be a perfect fit for Alaska.

When the Spirit leaves....I expect California to only have the Inspiration full time (since it is switching places with the Paradise)....and the Splendor part time (when it isn't in Alaska).

I've done some checking,however I wasn't to find out if we can sail to Australia on the Spirt when it leaves the USA.

A repositioning cruise is not showing on the books yet....but it is a little early.

Someone mentioned that the Spirit is suppose to go in for some drydock work before it starts its Austrialian run.....so that might be a factor as to IF there even is a repositioning cruise.

Makes since. They were already talking about doing alternating north / south routes. i.e. Mex Riv then San Francisco/Seattle/Victoria

Thanks. We had met Klara, but not Chad until this trip. Also they have become friends with our friends in Cozumel. Small world. Chad is a former RCCL cruise staff guy.

Carnival is not placing another ship in San Diego for now. Carnival has said there will be Alaska cruises after Carnival Spirit leaves. No word on Hawaii that I've heard.

Carnival Splendor is well suited for Alaska if it doesn't have lingering issues once fixed.
