We stayed 4 nights before our cruise out of Brooklyn at the Hampton Inn on 8th and 51st. We were able to get a good rate - under $200/night. It was a wonderful location and great staff. We booked our double decker tours before we arrived and saved lots of money. We had to go down to the Grayline on about 42nd and get our tickets. We did the 4 pack; Upper, Lower, Brooklyn and Night tour. Across the street was the Gershwin Theater where we saw Wicked. We did a car service to and from the airport and to and from the hotel to port ahead of time. If you want his name, just email me. He was on time and very informative. His limo was very clean. It was a good thing we did this too because when we got off the ship, there was a taxi strike. We also did the cruise around Manhattan and enjoyed that so much too. I hope this helps.

Reasonable & Manhatten cannot usually be used together in the same sentence. The average daily room rate for a teeny tiny (cabin sized) room in NYC is $350 per night & that's for the low end.

If you need to go super cheap you can get a hotel at the Newark AP for around $69 per night & then take public transportation into the city. For a bit more look into the Hyatt in Jersey City for a gorgeous view of the city.

In NYC itself, Priceline is your new nest friend. Happy bidding.

Friends who have come to NYC have stayed at both the Comfort Inn on Fifth Ave and E.25 St in Manhattan and also a hotel in Bay Ridge Brooklyn ,formerely the Hotel Gregory .Both are relatively reasonable and near all transportation
